Cleaning Machines Need to be Cleaned Merry About Town This post is brought to you by Finish® and JONES VOICE Summer days have come and gone. We’ve said goodbye to summer barbecues on paper plates and lounging in the sun. The leaves are already changing colors in Calgary! Next up? Cooler days, warm fires and entertaining for the holidays. While people talk about Spring cleaning, I’ve always felt September is more of a clean and renew time for me. I guess it’s because it is time for me to send Evan off to school and focus more on work. Over the summer, we got in the habit of entertaining more. I can’t wait to extend this great habit into the Fall and Winter. Unfortunately, my winter entertaining supplies are getting a bit rag tag. I’m scheduling time to pull everything out and note what needs to be replaced. I also like to run everything through the dishwasher to make sure I don’t have any last minute “Ewwwww….what is THAT?!?” moments while guests are waiting for drink. (We’ve all had that happen, right? Not just me? Phew!). No one likes having to scratch something off a glass! Before I do that, though, I need to clean my dishwasher. I know, I know. Who knew you needed to clean your dishwasher? Well, I found out a few years ago and now I make sure to clean it at back-to- school time. Thankfully, this is not one of those “take out the toothbrush and scrub for 4 hours” kind of cleaning things. Nope. You just go to the store (your favourite national store like Walmart, Loblaws, etc), head to the dishwasher soap aisle and pick up a bottle of Finish ® Dishwasher Cleaner. Pay for it (usually between $5.49 and $6.99 everyday) and drive home. The hardest part of your journey is now over. Peel off the sticker on the lid (but do NOT remove the lid). Place upside down in your dishwasher and run it on the hottest setting. That’s it. You are done. Sweet, right? Now you may be asking yourself….”but why do I NEED to clean my dishwasher?”. Well, just like you wouldn’t hand wash dishes in a grimy sink, you shouldn’t wash your dishes in a dirty dishwasher. As you use it everyday, limescale and grease can build up on it’s vital hidden parts such as filters, spray arms and pipes. Thankfully, getting all those important parts clean is easy peasy! Look at that shiny dishwasher! Next up…sending all those glasses and entertaining dishes through so they will come out sparkling clean and ready to hold a little holiday cheer for our next party. September renew and refresh is well on its way! If you haven’t tried Finish ® Dishwasher Cleaner now is the time!
