About 7 years ago, I gave up coffee.

Cold turkey.

My husband and I had been HUGE caffeine junkies up until that point in time, and were known to drink 8 cups a day (A DAY!!!), but when he fell very ill and needed to cut coffee, booze, sugar, and pretty much every other delicious thing out of his diet, I decided to jump on board and take the challenge with him.

Of course, I wasn’t prepared for just how painful it would be to give up my java-drinking existence, and after 10 straight days of feeling as though someone had beaten the you-know-what out of me, I vowed I would never drink coffee again.

I made good on that promise for over 5 years and felt amazing, but after sampling a cup of decaf while out with friends a couple of years ago, I’m back to my coffee-loving ways. It started with a morning trip to Starbucks after I dropped my daughter off at preschool, and has developed into a full-fledged addiction again, and I feel like I’m forever fishing the coffee filters out of our pantry so I can put a fresh pot on.

The good news is that there are HEAPS of cool crafts you can do with coffee filters to keep your little ones busy, which makes me feel much less guilty about all of the caffeine I pour down my throat each day.
